On Saturday, one of the financial services group, Liberty Financial group’s system got hacked. This is reported to be one of the largest hacks that have ever happened at Liberty Life and in South Africa, and customers are urged to change their passwords if they are the same as the once as Liberty accounts.
Information such as personal information of customers and their personal data could be linked to the public if they do not change their passwords as soon as possible.
Liberty has been warned that information of their clients might be linked to the public using a dark web.
No confirmation has been made on whether the hack had taken place inside or outside the country and all affected emails are due to the police for the investigations.
The firm offers asset management, investment, insurance and health products to over 3.2 million people across Africa.
