BKCOB | PRESS RELEASE | CIVIL UNREST AND ARSON

The Border-Kei Chamber of Business, representing 700 Members in this Region, including Buffalo City Metropole, Amahlati and Chris Hani Districts, condemn in the strongest possible terms, the widespread, wanton and destructive action by elements claiming to be protesting in the interest of service delivery, Housing, Wage Demands and many other unrelated issues

Mass intimidation, lootings and property destruction can never justify any means or end

The impact on business, society and public is quantified beyond just money. The harm to people, their livelihoods and existence is threatened by people who claim to be doing this for a reason.

Loss to the Economy, Business Confidence and jobs will take its toll where ultimately the Economy collapses completely, where destroyed State infrastructures such as municipal buildings, schools, clinics and community halls, cannot be replaced

The Border-Kei Chamber of Business calls on all structures to take a stand to support law and order and the general Rule of Law.  Furthermore advocating strong action, which includes resolving legitimate grievances, is recommended before Citizens begin to take the law into their own hands.
