Inspiration Awards 2019 | Press Release

The Inspiration Awards was birthed out of a desire to hear, celebrate and promote the good endeavours going on in a society dominated by bad news. It started in 2012 with 48 leaders gathered together to listen to 12 inspirational stories, with R100 000 sown into these changemakers by 6 partners to further their ventures. Now, 6 years later, 2550 delegates have attended the breakfast-themed ceremony hosted annually by Mercedes-Benz South Africa, 190 inspirational stories having been told and R2.2 million has been given away through a community of 30 partners.

The Inspiration Awards seeks to mobilise a community of partners with a heart to empower changemakers through their unique resources, skills, time and networks in order to promote the work they are doing, while simultaneously helping them become more sustainable. Local leaders in all sectors of society are collaborating for the benefit of local changemakers. A few examples of this are the Business Women’s Association and Fort Hare University’s Adopt-a-NGO Program which has seen 10 entrants receiving business coaching from 10 prominent businesswomen in East London, as well as monthly tailored seminars and workshops. Additionally, Land of the Living has empowered sustainable community recycling drives and 16 entrants have thus far received Global Business Solutions training sponsored by Mercedes-Benz South Africa.

The 7th annual Inspiration Awards will be held at Mercedes-Benz on Thursday, 23 May 2019, with submissions opening on 1 March and closing on 28 March 2019. To find out more about the Inspiration Awards and how to enter, please visit and fill out the online application form or find us on Facebook @theinspirationawards. Finalists will receive R40 000, a professional video and an opportunity to present at the Inspiration Awards ceremony to 500 delegates.
