BKCOB Infrastructure Committee visits EL Coal Terminal
The Border-Kei Chamber of Business (BKCOB) Infrastructure Committee was invited to visit the new coal/skiptainer facility situated within the container terminal at the East London Port on 12 April 2013 by Transnet Port Terminals’ Terminal Manager, Khethokuhle Nyawose and his management team.
The committee was taken on a guided tour of the port and the coal facility, where the coal mined in Indwe by Elitheni Coal will be transported to and exported via skiptainer solution.
The R70 million mobile harbour crane recently procured and commissioned was also demonstrated in action. The committee was able to grasp the functionality of the crane as well as the revolving spreader technology – sheer engineering brilliance behind the machine in action.
