Head of Communications vacancy

The Border-Kei Chamber of Business seeks to fill a full time, vacant position that has occurred in the Communications portfolio of the Chamber. Please note that the information below does not constitute a job description.

 The Successful candidate will be a well-known and respected individual, capable of achieving targets and working in a pressured environment

  • A minimum of seven years in communications in the private sector
  • Have recognised networks with the respected media platforms including print, radio and online platforms
  • Good written and verbal skills with the ability to engage with senior members of business as well as rank and file of our community
  • Innovative and always looking to improve relationships through communication.

Position Profile

  • Previously employed at an independent level in the Private Sector
  • Strong independent and innovative thinker
  • Self-assured and able to work without supervision
  • Good communicator with above average skills
  • Must have a minimum of a Diploma or Degree. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous

Requisite Skills

  • Responsible for Chambers own Business Hi-Lite Magazine including close collaboration with the publisher
  • Web based acumen that includes developing and updating web sites and blogs
  • Extensive knowledge of the intricacies of Social Media including Facebook and Twitter
  • Writing and research of / in material for Chamber magazine and other publications
  • Writing, editing and drafting press releases and newsletters
  • Mass mailing and mass electronic communication (eg. Mail Chimp)
  • Distribution of invitations and newsletters
  • Data Base Management (CRM knowledge)
  • Able and prepared to mentor interns
  • ITC experience especially digital
